| June 6 (S), 9 AM June 15, 1 PM | SEPs, CCCs, & Core Ideas: Putting the 3-Dimensions Together | Join us for an active hands-on experience and an in-depth discussion on how to integrate the 3 dimensions – core ideas, science and engineering practices, and crosscutting concepts – of the AZ science standards. |
| June 7 (S), 1 PM June 16, 9 AM June 30 (E), 1 PM | Science & Engineering Practice of Asking Questions | In this virtual course, you will be engaged in inquiring about a phenomenon that requires you to ask questions and think critically. You will learn specific tools to support students’ learning and growth through the use of the practice of asking questions. |
| June 8 (S), 9 AM June 17, 1 PM July 1 (E), 9 AM July 8 (E), 9 AM | Scientific Models | Join us for an active hands-on experience and an in-depth discussion on how to use students’ models effectively to deepen their understanding of science concepts. |
| June 9 (S), 1 PM June 21, 1 PM July 5 (E), 1 PM | More than a Procedure | In this interactive virtual course, participants will learn specific strategies to support students in planning and carrying out investigations, as they do a hands-on investigation of their own. |
| June 10 (S), 9 AM June 22, 9 AM July 6 (E), 9 AM | More than a Bar Graph | Looking for better ways to help your students make sense of data without taking lots of time? Join us as we explore data to discover new ways to integrate the Science and Engineering Practices and Crosscutting Concepts into your instruction. |
| June 13 (E), 9 AM June 29 (E), 1 PM | Exploring Surfaces of Planets & Moon in Our Solar System for Teachers of Grades K-8 | Join the Planetary Science Institute as we explore how planets are classified and talk about how the surfaces comes to look the way they do. Activities will engage participants in thinking about different processes that occur on the Earth and other planets. |
| June 14 (S), 9 AM June 24, 9 AM | What? How? Why? All in a Scientific Explanation | By using a model, you will develop an explanation based upon evidence to explain what causes the phenomenon. You will be able to differentiate explanations from argumentation and deepen your understanding of how this practice progresses across the grade bands. |
| June 23, 1 PM July 7 (E), 1 PM | Building Evidence-Based Arguments | In this virtual course you will learn how an evidence-based argument can be used to drive standards-based instruction. You will focus on scaffold and protocols that support students in constructing and critiquing arguments based on evidence. |
| June 28 (S) 1 PM | Exploring Volcanoes of the Solar System | Join the Planetary Science Institute as we explore volcanoes on the Earth and other planetary bodies in our Solar System. In this workshop we will investigate volcanic processes and how they have shaped planetary landscapes. |
