Personal information that you’d like people to know:
I spent 5 years on the islands of St. Kitts and St. Croix managing a scuba diving shop and teaching diving. Diving and the ocean world are my passions and I feel fortunate that I got to share my experiences and love of the ocean world with my students on a daily basis.
One of your favorite science activities:
My favorite unit was a project-based lesson on plastic pollution in the ocean. The kids got pretty enthused about it and it was gratifying to me because I think at the end of it most of them seem to be committed to changing the way they use and dispose of plastic products.
Why I want to serve ASTA:
I am a staunch believer and advocate for the “new” AZ science standards and am excited to be able to teach and introduce this new way of teaching the standards to teachers around the state. I consider it a privilege to work side-by-side with my colleagues in ASTA and treasure the relationships I have been able to develop with others in the organization. In retirement it has a given me a path to continue to learn, develop and stay relevant. I appreciate the opportunities the organization provides to me and others!
