The core ideas provide an organizational structure to explain and predict phenomena and in designing solutions to problems that students encounter in their daily lives. Core ideas serve as the major organizer of concepts that allow learners to make connections and further refine and enhance their ideas. Participants will gain an understanding of how the core ideas are differentiated in the AZ Science Standards, how they progress over grade bands, and the need to shift instruction to address students’ learning, exploration, and explanation of the core ideas.
