ASTA works to provide professional learning opportunities for individuals, schools, and local education agencies & districts that are customized to fit the needs of the client. ASTA can provide a variety of professional learning
services, including full day, half day, professional book study PLCs, and even year-long PLCs. Our goal is to help build capacity among science educators across the state in developing and implementing 3-dimensional instructional
strategies that align to the NRC Framework for K-12 Science Education and 3-D science standards. Every professional learning opportunity we offer and customize is developed using the
Council of State Science Supervisors (CSSS) Professional Learning Standards.

Our team will then schedule a required 30-minute virtual planning meeting where we will discuss options, determine what level of professional learning your district is currently at, and tailor a plan to fit your needs.

Rebecca Garelli has been a professional educator for 18 years, focusing much of her career on teaching middle school math, science, and engineering. She has also been a science education consultant since 2009 and freelance science curriculum writer since 2015. Formerly, she was the Science & STEM Specialist for the Arizona Department of Education from 2019-2023, was a Lead Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Instructional Coach for the NGSS Collaborative in Chicago, and Adjunct Faculty member of DePaul University’s STEM Center where she taught graduate-level seminars on the NGSS. Additionally, Rebecca currently writes NGSS Curriculum and Assessments for a variety of projects, and she recently joined the OpenSciEd National Facilitator Team. Rebecca is also currently serving a 3-year term on the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) Professional Learning in Science Education Committee. Rebecca earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from DePaul University and an M.Ed. in Science Education from Loyola University Chicago.
