Constructing Science Units
Arizona science educators come together to create engaging and rigorous science units for all K5 teachers to use
Thirty-seven science educators from across the state of Arizona participated in an intense professional learning opportunity offered through a partnership with Arizona Science Teachers Association (ASTA) and the Arizona Department of Education (ADE). Funds provided by APS Foundation and Burton Family Foundation allowed these teachers to spend several months working in collaborative teams to master the skills and techniques needed to design, implement and evaluate cohesive science units aligned with Arizona Science Standards adopted in 2018. Multiple instructional sequences forming several cohesive science units were created addressing Kindergarten through 5th grade science standards which will be shared free for teachers to use in their own classrooms. Look for professional development and posted resources related to the developed curriculum coming during the Summer of 2023!
