Administrator Power Session

What does 3-dimensional science instruction look and sound like in a classroom? In this interactive 30-minute administrator power session, participants will watch a classroom video and examine a transcript to identify evidence of students using science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas to make sense of a phenomenon. Participants will consider how students use the three dimensions together and how that work moves their scientific thinking forward.

Administrators will also explore the Instructional Leadership for Science Practices, or ILSP, Science Instruction Observation Form and Science Practices Continuum. These tools support observers in collecting evidence of what teachers and students are saying and doing, identifying the science practices present, and considering where those practices fall along a developmental progression. Participants will leave with practical tools and a clearer lens for recognizing, documenting, and supporting 3-dimensional sensemaking during classroom observations.

You are invited to a Zoom meeting.
