Description
YAVAPAI COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE: HELPING STUDENTS MAKE SENSE OF THE WORLD: INVESTIGATIVE PRACTICES
Using a Communities of Practice (CoP) model, we will work together to deepen our understanding of the Investigating Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs), namely Asking Questions and Defining Problems, Planning and Carrying Out Investigations, and Using Mathematics and Computational Thinking, as outlined in Helping Students Make Sense of the World Using Next Generation Science & Engineering Practices by authors Christina Schwarz, Cynthia Passmore, and Brian Reiser. We will meet in-person starting in August through September thanks to Humboldt and Prescott School Districts who are hosting this CoP. As a CoP, we will be practicing strategies, sharing ideas about what works, learning from others and growing together.
Registrants will need to acquire their own copy of the book. Can be purchased at NSTA (https://my.nsta.org/resource/105619) for $49.99.
If a participant chooses not to purchase the book, ASTA will provide access to the chapters for this CoP.
